Plus Size Wrap Babywearing Options
Hello, friends! Today I wanted to talk about something that I get asked about regularly, and that is plus size wrapping.
I don’t ever want a mom or dad to feel that they cannot be a beautiful, skilled, comfortable wrapper because of the size or shape of their body!
There are 2 important facts I want to share:
1. Woven wraps come in aaalllll sizes. So, yes, you can get a wrap to fit you just as well as anyone else. Sometimes the larger sizes are harder to find but I’m going to give you a tip for that below.
2. Plus size parents can use shorter wraps, too. You don’t HAVE to get a long one to make it work.
A long wrap can be used for full length carries like Front Wrap Cross Carry (FWCC) or Double Hammock Back Carry (DHC).
We call your full length wrap size your “base size” and base size is based upon your body size. This chart can help you determine your base size wrap.
But it can be hard to find the plus size wraps. Many brands standardly make only three wrap sizes. Size 5, 6, and 7.
However, when I get one of my exclusive designs woven, I can get them made in ANY size. So my pre-orders are a fantastic opportunity to get a design you love in a plus size wrap.
In fact, if you do not see the size you want listed in my pre-order, email me and I will probably be able to accommodate you.
Now the next point is that you don’t NEED a long wrap, even if you have a bigger body.
How can that be?
Well, EVERYONE (regardless of size) can use a wrap that is one size, two sizes, even three sizes shorter than their base size wrap.
And you have just as many great options with a wrap that is shorter. I love what we call “base minus two” or “base -2”. A wrap that is 2 sizes smaller than you base size as per the above chart will give you a lot of really fun, comfortable, versatile options!
So if you love a wrap that is only available in sizes 5, 6, and 7. You can make one of those wraps work for you!
