Beginner Tips for FWCC with a Woven Wrap
Front Wrap Cross Carry (FWCC) is usually the first carry that a mom learns with a woven wrap, but trying to figure it out for the first time can be intimidating and may turn some parents off of wrapping.
I’m sharing small, easy tips to get FWCC tight, comfortable, and secure that even a beginner can do.
I made this video to give you all the SIMPLE tricks to make your Front Wrap Cross Carry come together more easily, so your baby won’t have as much time to get frustrated and wiggly, and your baby won’t feel heavy:
In the above video I will show you:
- how to swing the tails around your back to the opposite shoulder
- how to keep your wrap from getting twisted
- how to make the carry the right size before you pick up baby, so there’s less tightening once baby is in the wrap
- where to place your hands and what angle to pull at to tighten effectively so the slack actually comes out
- the hop hack for tightening the whole carry
- how to keep baby’s knees from hanging down
- when to bunch or spread the crosses
- newborn variation
- keep the wrap from hurting your neck
- keep the wrap from falling off your shoulders
- keep baby’s face from being covered in wrap (this is important for safety)
- how to tuck baby’s pelvis for a more secure seat
- how to fix FWCC if it starts to sag after you’ve tied it
- how to give baby a view so they like being in the wrap
- how to correctly add a shoulder twist that holds baby snugly
