Strangleproof Rucksack & Back Wrap Cross Carry
We call a back carry “strangleproof” when the wrap forms a cross in the front that is kept from feeling chokey by knotless tucks pulling the crosses away from the neck. In these cases, we might also call the tucks “strangleproof tucks.”
Let me show you what I mean:
Strangleproof Rucksack, a Fancy(er) Finish and a Note on the Bunched Crosses
The above reel shows a Strangleproof Rucksack and features my newest wrap design, Girasol Eclipse, the perfect wrap for those who love black, gray and charcoal wraps!
NOTE: Strangleproof Ruck is often done with the bunches passes over and under baby’s legs in reverse order from a regular Rucksack and many other back carries.
That is to say, usually you bring the bunched wrap over baby’s leg, then tuck under baby’s second leg. However with a Strangleproof Ruck I recommend trying it as shown in the above reel going UNDER the first leg and over the second leg. Give it a try!
Strangleproof Back Wrap Cross Carry (and a historical note)
Here is a full wrap tutorial showing how to do a Strangleproof Back Wrap Cross Carry (BWCC):
In recent years it’s become popular to do Back Wrap Cross Carry (BWCC) with a half knot at the chest instead of a cross spread over the wearer’s chest. However the original and traditional BWCC is wrapped crossed over the chest, which for many people is more comfortable. In this case, the Strangleproof Tucks can be very helpful!
