Pinning Down and Wrapping Up a Wiggly Toddler
Back Wrap Cross Carry with rucksack straps
2.5 year old
first you find the middle
then you throw yourself over your kid after running around in the livingroom trying to catch him
lift him by the arms
fly him up and TRY to put him on your back
finally!
bend forward and spread the toddlers legs so that he wraps them around your back
push the fabric under his bum all the way to the knees
pull the fabric straight forward to tighten the "belt" (no he's not sleeping hehe)
squeeze one end of the wrap between your thighs
Grab the upper rim of the other . . .
and put it over your arm and shoulder . . .
and bring the wrap around the toddler's back
spread the wrap
tighten well and bring the wrapend under the toddler's foot and squeeze it with your thighs
do the same thing
make a comfortable shoulder
voila!
now you can rock on!!

I think I’d better learn and become proficient with this wrap BEFORE my son is able to run away from me at warp speeds 😉

Know what I love about this: they are both so happy in these pics. Too sweet

Any suggestions for a wiggly boy who likes to straighten his legs while I try to make the seat for him?
Thanks for the ideas for getting him up there in the first place!

While you’re making the seat, try standing upright (rather than bent over), to drop his bottom down into the seat, and the unexpected position may make him bend his knees to cling to you. Just make sure you are holding him in the wrap securely so he can’t fall when you do this. And then you have to be ready to tighten that bottom rail while he’s in the good position to hold him there. You can try carries that secure your baby/toddler early on in the wrapping process like a Back Wrap Cross Carry with a Chest Belt, and if you’re having trouble getting the seat in a Rucksack Carry, you can try a Carry with diagonal passes like BWCC or Double Hammock Carry. Try to have any excess wrap down at your baby’s knees, rather than up by their necks–that can help too.
